Florence in South Carolina

Welcome to Florence, South Carolina

The City of Florence is the seat of Florence County. It is located in eastern South Carolina where I-95 and I-20 intersect.

Florence is a common stop for travelers headed to Myrtle Beach. The area forms the core of the historical “Pee Dee” region of South Carolina, which includes the eight counties of northeastern South Carolina, along with sections of southeastern North Carolina.

Due to a massive redevelopment of Downtown Florence, which is ongoing, many of the city’s historic buildings have already been rehabilitated and the work is still progressing.

The city now has a new Florence Little Theater, some 60 new apartments and the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center as well the new Florence Museum of Art, Science & History.

There is much to see and do in Florence and the surrounding area. You will not be disappointed to stop and linger a while in this beautiful revitalized city.
